The sun will shine on you again!

I was sad to hear the news of Captain Sir Tom Moore's passing a few weeks ago. He had such a positive impact to the world and lifted our spirits when we needed a ray of sunshine. I have been struggling without sunshine as the weather has been pretty grim in Brighton for a fair while. Sunshine makes me smile and makes a huge difference to how I feel. I bought some daffodils recently and they gave me such a wonderful feeling of knowing that spring is coming. I just love their vibrant colour too. I think everyone is feeling a little disheartened at the moment. I know I am feeling endlessly tired with no real understanding of what 2021 will bring. Normally we would be planning our lives, booking holidays, day trips, seeing our family and friends, and generally looking forward to the summer.

My routine has definitely been thrown out, the days feel longer and my sleep pattern is all over the place (especially with little Dexter in the house). There is a lot to be said for journaling, meditating and drinking water and these are some practices that I have started to incorporate into my daily routine. My regular exercise seems to have gone out of the window but I recognise that as a bad thing so am taking little steps to start slowly and build this back up again, just a few times a week. We should never overwhelm ourselves with thinking we have to introduce X new things a day; it is a slow process which then becomes a good habit. I was shocked when I recently joined Michael Heppell's Team 17 Habit stream, looked at my screen time on my phone and realised I was not disciplining myself with my phone and aimlessly scrolling as a distraction in my day. I have many connections on Facebook I enjoy talking to and I have to be on social media to focus on Eddy and build my business, but some of my phone habits are just not healthy. Next week I have been set a challenge:

  • Get up at the same time every day (even at the weekend)
  • Reduce screen time (ideally not more than 2 hours a day)
  • Have at least 30 mins of movement every day
  • Drink at least 1.5 litres of water every day

I know all these things will make a huge difference to my well being and mindset.

Who would like to join me? #postivesteps #goodhabits #springiscoming
